I am finally back on my blog after quite a while. I needed to go accomplish some goals and dreams which proved to be really time consuming. showed a few people to the exit door in my life, I needed a bit of a “I’m gonna just go do me” moment while the time was available to me during lockdown and decided to go on the very stressful but rewarding journey of figuring out how to buy a house and me and my fiance are now home owners and have been for the past one month and four days!

It wasn’t an easy or cheap experience but it was definitely worth it! During lock down the cracks really began to show in the privately rented house we were living in. The landlord was completely incompetent and immoral. We discovered the house needed a new roof after some heavy rain leaked through, we went into the attic and discovered that there were probably rooftops photographed in the London blitz that looked in better shape, there were holes everywhere that had been there since before we moved in and after having a builder come out to look he said that the roof had absolutely no life left in it, it had no lining and was just slates. He also said that felt and insulation wasn’t even invented when that roof was built, but the landlord wouldn’t replace it, so as we were paying our heating bill the money and heat was literally flying through the roof. We had a wall collapse in the yard that could of killed or seriously injured our pets or kids, we had a boiler that we could never turn off, an infestation of slugs and black mould and the house was so damp we couldn’t sit on the floor or have furniture in the living room anymore, we actually ended up living upstairs in the end. It was literally like living in a prison without the luxury of having your own toilet in your cell. It was no way to live, everyone was just in their bedrooms, we tried getting environmental health involved but they were useless aswell as the housing agency that the letting was arranged through, the only people who seemed to generally care were the builders and workmen who came out and said “how are you managing?! This is horrid.” And said they wouldn’t pay anyone to live like we were.
It’s just so nice being in our own house now filled with family time and gorgeous living conditions after the hell we went through. We have a huge garden and the layout of the house just functions so well, the kitchen is amazing and I am just so happy as is the rest of the family. If I could pick a fault with the current house, its that it’s too relaxing! 😂 I don’t have to wash up, we have a dishwasher, it takes like 30 minutes to clean, we have a Bluetooth mirror in our bathroom and a shower room in the main bedroom so it feels like a hotel room. I can’t wait to come home after my shifts at work, the kids are always out playing with friends and the only reason they run home is for money so they can get an ice cream from the ice-cream van. It’s a whole new life for us all, It’s amazing.
